A Charter issued by the Grand Lodge of the State of
Illinois on October 7, 1874 Formally created MAY LODGE No. 718 in Norris
City, Illinois. MAY LODGE No. 718 has reached a most important milestone in years of service and will be celebrating 133 years on October 7, 2007. It is proud of its history, has a firm hold upon its present, and looks to the future with pride and determination. Today we celebrate not only our heritage from the men of 1874 and those up to the present but we rededicate not only our selves to the task they began — that of building a better community of Masonic brotherhood — a community of Masonic brotherhood where trust, fellowship, respect, equality, and love for fellowmen prevails. In 1941 President Harry S. Truman, a brother mason, said “today as never before our country needs the support and loyalty of all its citizens and I am sure that as long as there are three millions of masons in the country all good men and true who believe in the system of morality and the constitution of the United States, we can safely face the future no matter what it might bring.” |
